Why did you become a Physical Therapist?
For me becoming a physical therapist was part of my cost-saving plan for the future. Throughout high school, I was very involved in athletics (swimming, basketball, and softball.) With athletic participation comes the risk of injury, and I had my fair share ranging from a dislocated shoulder to a fractured wrist. Both injuries eventually resulted in surgery. This prompted me to want to learn how to better care for myself because I knew as life passed I was not going to get any younger. The most rewarding part of my job is the patient encounters. I enjoy getting a snapshot in to the lives of so many people from so many different walks of life. I also enjoy working for a company in an environment where quality is emphasized over cost. I am lucky to be a part of such a talented staff of professionals.
What are you involved with in your community?
I am very active in the Washington community. I am a current member of the Washington Central 51 School Board, Program Director for Camp Invention (summer enrichment STEM camp for first through sixth graders), active in the Washington Chamber of Commerce, and am currently working to bring the Walldog Festival (community art festival) to Washington, IL.
