Why did you become a Therapist?
I knew I always wanted to work in a field helping individuals, but I was not sure which route to take. Lucky for me, my mother worked at the local hospital as a volunteer coordinator. She was able to set me up with various disciplines throughout the hospital and outpatient clinics. One of my volunteer opportunities was with the local pediatric outpatient PT/OT/ST clinic. I instantly fell in love with the occupational therapy discipline. We got to work on functional tasks while creating fun, this checked off so many requirements I was looking for in my future career. I then received my Occupational Therapy Assistant degree, knowing I wanted to continue growing in Occupational Therapy, I went back to school and received my master’s in occupational therapy.
What are you involved in in your community?
Growing up in a farming family, I have always loved watching the next generation learn about taking care of cattle then getting to show them every year at the local county fairs. One thing I have continued was being part of the farming community and helping guide the next generation with showing their cattle at the local county fairs.
