Jennifer grew up in Fairfield, IA and currently resides in Waverly, IA. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Wartburg College where she competed in cross country and track. She then attended the University of Iowa where she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Outside of work Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, and cheering on Wartburg and the Hawkeyes.
Why did you become a PT?
While growing up, I remember always being interested in Biology and the sciences. When I was a senior in high school, I took my first anatomy course and was amazed by the complexity of the musculoskeletal system and knew I wanted to do something with health care. I decided to start shadowing various healthcare providers. I was lucky enough throughout my sports career to avoid physical therapists, so I didn’t know what they did. When I discovered their role in evaluating the human body, decreasing symptoms and improving patients’ lives, I knew this career was for me! I thoroughly enjoy developing relationships with patients and improving their quality of life with education, manual therapy, and exercise.
What are you involved with in the community?
In the community, I’m involved in the AAUW, PEO Chapter PC, and the Mother’s Together Group – teaching a post-partum course. My husband and I are also organizing and helping sponsor the Kid’s Triathlon in August.
