Sam is from Nora Springs, IA and currently resides in Waukee, IA. Sam received his undergraduate degree from Wartburg College in Biology and received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa. Outside of work Sam enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 boys, exercising (weight training, basketball), and doing home improvement projects.
Why did you become a Physical Therapist?
I first became interested in PT when I broke a bone in my elbow playing baseball in high school. I learned how it felt to miss out on activities that you love doing, and I truly enjoy helping people get back to their activities that been limited by pain, mobility, strength or confidence. As PT’s, we are able to help people through very physically and mentally challenging times, and this creates a really unique bond between therapist and patient.
What are you involved with in your community?
I currently serve on the board for the Waukee YMCA and the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce. I also enjoy coaching my son’s youth sports as well.
