Laura Goehring grew up in Wapello, Iowa and currently resides in Douds, Iowa. Laura received her associates of arts from Muscatine Community College then transferred to Upper Iowa University to complete her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training. She received her Master of Science degree from Southern Columbia University in Occupational Safety and Health. Outside of work she enjoys family and friends, gardening, and spending time outdoors.
Why did you become an Athletic Trainer?
I became an Athletic Trainer by accident. Originally, I wanted to do nursing but when I was transferring from MCC, the colleges recruiting me to continue my athletic career in softball did not offer nursing to athletes. So once looking at the programs I chose to do Athletic Training because it was still in the medical field and kept me in athletics.
What are you involved in in your community?
I am a volunteer Fire Fighter at Douds Fire Department.
